I read an awesome article that was in included in my paper.li Memoir Writing paper and just had to pass it along. I found myself at Meghan Ward’s blog titled Writerland. The article is 5 Things I’ve Learned About Memoir Writing. (I know that’s a lot of links, but I want to give credit where due.)
Obviously, I’m not going to re-write what Meghan already wrote, but I did want to pass it along as great information that makes sense. You know, that’s not always true as you are running around the internet trying to soak up some education on the subject of memoir writing. Most of the 5 points are basic but it is so nice to see another memoir writer bringing them to light.
Writing for yourself is easy. Writing for others is a lot harder. There are rules or guidelines that need to be followed if we have the hope of publishing. Meghan’s post is a reminder to me. I’ll finish the first draft but will try to look at it from a readers standpoint before I dive into the re-writing. I have printed her 5 point list to reference.
Just love to share posts about writing memoir from others that know! Check it out. Here’s the link again…
