Patio, Porch or Deck | Spring is Here!

O keys deep Patio, Porch or Deck | Spring is Here! I've got some decorating and furnishing to do outside? Do you have a patio, porch or deck you need to get ready for Spring? I just love Spring! And, around here, it seems to have started early. In the past couple of weeks we have had weather in the high 70's and low 80's -- makes you want to be outside after a long (though mild) winter.

We have a new house and this will be our first Spring and Summer here. There is a deck overlooking the backyard as well as a beautiful, large patio outside the walkout basement.  So far, we have 2 sling style chairs on the deck and a couple of other chairs on the patio -- never gonna due for our large family that gets together quite often in the warm weather.

I have been researching all over the internet for patio decorating ideas. There are tons of patio furniture sites and "how to design a patio or deck" but these aren't what I need. I did run across a new site that has some great articles and ideas for porch, patio and deck decorating here -- Country Porch World. They have all kinds of suggestions for your outdoor area including furniture, accents, area rugs, pillows, cushions and more! After reading a few articles, I know I want to set up a few different areas -- dining area, a couple of different conversation areas and one that appreciates the backyard view from the deck. Take a minute and visit -- you won't be sorry.

I was also looking for a certain style to decorate the outdoor areas. Tuscan garden seems to be very popular right now, as is tropical/island and coastal (kinda New England-ish). I like the Tuscan garden idea because I like warm colors but the coastal is pretty cool with blue and greens too! I haven't completely decided yet but these articles are a big help.

One thing I know for sure, I will make sure my patio furniture has Sunbrella fabric cushions. They are top of the line and will last for years (way longer than the cheap cushions that come with a set). They are mildew, fade, and stain resistant as well as repelling water. There are sooooo many fabrics to choose from that no matter which decorating direction I go, I know I will find a fabric that works!

We have a couple of pieces we will use and they definitely need replacement cushions -- the old ones are worn out. But, when I buy new pieces or vintage pieces to add to the patio or deck, I want them all to coordinate so I will continue coordinating Sunbrella fabrics for a cohesive look! I'll keep you posted! Meanwhile, below are a few shots of patios and decks I really like!
